Conservation District, News|

The Greenwood County Conservation District would like to announce there’s program open for KRPI again until Sept 30. We’re taking applications for those that are along or near the Fall River wanting to implement conservation practices.

The KRPI (Kansas Reservoir Protection Initiative) is an initiative which provides financial assistance to landowners in priority watersheds to implement sediment-reducing conservation practices to enhance sediment reduction efforts above federal reservoirs where water supply storage is impacted by sedimentation. Initiative funding is available. Taking applications now through Sept. 30, 2025 for round three of the program. Please contact your local conservation district to apply. 620.583.5544 x.3 or email gwccdistrict@gmail.com

How It Works

Funding for KRPI is allocated from the Kansas Water Plan to conservation district in cooperation with the Kansas Water Office, ensuring strong alignment with statewide water conservation goals. KRPI funding is available in the Tuttle Creek Lake (Kansas Region), Fall River Lake (Verdigris Region), John Redmond Reservoir (Neosho Region), Kanopolis Lake (Smoky Hill-Saline Region), Perry (Kansas Region), Pomona (Marais des Cygnes Region), and Hillsdale (Marais des Cygnes Region) watersheds as highlighted on the map below.

Local conservation districts play a vital role in delivering the program on the ground and their staff will be your point of contact for making an application, assessing site-specific resource concerns, overseeing project implementation, and, coordinating payments after eligible practices have been completed.
