The Register of Deeds Office is responsible for recording and maintaining all transactions affecting real estate in Greenwood County. This includes but is not limited to; deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases, and plats. We also file financing statements, tax liens, power of attorney, death certificates and military discharges.

Register of Deeds COVID-19 Notice

THE GREENWOOD COUNTY COURTHOUSE IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. PLEASE ENTER/EXIT THROUGH SECURITY AT THE DOORS ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE BUILDING.

Access for researchers will be limited to 2 at a time in the office.
We recommend making an appointment in advance for research to ensure you don't have a wait time.
There is a drop-box on the west side of the courthouse where documents can be dropped off. We ask that items be placed in a sealed envelope. Please note the time of drop-off on the envelope and call our office to let us know it is there!
