The Greenwood County Economic Development Office seeks to improve the the economic wellbeing and quality of life in Greenwood County. Briefly described below are some of the activities that take place in the Economic Devleopment Office. The scope of work at any given time can include much more than is listed because when you get right down to it, community and economic development in rural Kansas requires thinking outside of the box.
Promote and define the County’s assets and other resources which will enhance economic growth;
To render assistance and encouragement to existing industries and promote ongoing economic activities to ensure their continued operation and growth;
To identify, meet and negotiate with potential new industries and other potential new business enterprises best suited to the resources of the Greenwood County area;
To actively promote Greenwood County, communities within Greenwood County and specific industrial sites and buildings as locations suitable for new business and industry;
To encourage the development and implementation of a countywide economic development plan, working in close liaison with local chambers of commerce, county and city governmental units, community organizations and allied agencies to accomplish this objective.
Upon request, to provide technical assistance to communities located in Greenwood County to assist them to become more successful in the recruitment of new industry and other businesses, which meet the needs of their citizens.
