Local Public Health Department chosen as Grant Recipient Mid-February the Greenwood County Health Department applied for a grant that was awarded to only 4 counties and recently were notified they were chosen. They are proud to announce that they will be able to offer 5 food demonstration lessons prepared specifically for WIC clinics and families. The grant is a special Food Demonstration Pilot Project and will run from May-September. It is designed to encourage WIC clients to use the healthy foods provided by WIC to improve the overall diet and health of all family members. The Health Department staff hope to take this opportunity to demonstrate ways to use WIC foods in a fun and tasteful way while teaching kitchen safety and ways to include family participation. The Health Department is very excited about being selected and having the opportunity to work closely with the families.
The classes will start promptly at 6:00 pm, and childcare will be provided by local FCCLA students. The classes will be held at the Health Department, 200 W. 1st, Eureka. There is no cost for the class and will be a fun way to get new recipes and time out with grownups. Door prizes will be given at each class.
